Mario Wedding Cake

Our best Friends got Married in Maui on April 1st, 2014. I had the honor of making their wedding cake. They are Mario fans through and through. They even scratched their first dance and replaced it with a First Mario Cart game… She won.

Jimmy and Krista’s Wedding October 27, 2012

Jimmy and Krista’s wedding cake. Now that I live a LONG 3 and a half hours away from my family I had to go to my parents house about a week before the wedding and set up shop before tackling it. Many other cakes I have made  I have been able to make at home, but the whole 3.5 hour drive from my place to my parents is nasty, gnarly, twisty & turny.  I hate the drive, but it does help in making excuses to stay and visit my parents for long periods of time… Always a silver lining.

I am back from our week at Donner lake. Every year (for the past 20 years) my family has gone, my Grandparents rent a cabin which hold my family, my uncle, aunt and cousins and, of course, my grandparents. It is always an amazing good time. This year my Grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just days before our trip. I discovered that they never had a wedding cake when they got married so I made them my own little mock wedding cake. I say mock because it was incredibly small. A 4 inch vegan vanilla cake with chocolate filling. a 6 inch chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and an 8 inch yellow cake with chocolate filling. It can be found in my Wedding cake section.
Here is a view from our cabin this year, at sunset. … it was AMAZING.
